North Carolina went to Obama! I am sooooooo living in a Blue State!!!

And things are feeling great … even though they STILL haven’t officially announced who won North Carolina. Blue State? I hope so!!!

You know the Fat Lady has sung when Fox News calls the race in favor of Obama! At this moment North Carolina is still a toss up. C’mon Blue!!!

Well, I am back home in the chilly mountains of North Carolina. Thanks to Dr. Phibes and Co. for another great visit down to the wilds of North Florida. We ate too much food, drank too much beer and watched too many horror films!

I do have some photos from the trip that I will post soon. It’s just that I am too busy right now watching North Carolina go totally Democratic! Go Obama!!!

Here we are a few days later and the gas situation here in WNC doesn’t seem to be any better. Most stations you drive past have been out for days. You can certainly tell which station has gotten a shipment. They get so swamped that the employees of said gas station have to get out in the road and direct traffic. It’s crazy! They keep saying that Hurricanes Ike and Gustav are to blame because the “such and such” pipeline is “running at reduced capacity.” I mean … c’mon! How man hurricanes have there been over how many years and it’s never, ever been this bad.

Personally, I think we are trapped in some secret government run experiment to see what happens when the gas suddenly goes. Seriously.

So … yeah. It appears that the greater WNC area is out of gas. I had folks miss rehearsal tonight because they are concerned about having enough gas to get to the rest of this week’s rehearsals. Yeesh. On the drive home tonight, all five gas stations that I pass along the way had their pumps covered. Not one single one had any gas. Fun times!

Call me old fashioned … but doesn’t it seem a little worrisome that scientist are trying to recreate the start of the universe right here on Earth?

I mean … what’s the worst that can happen?

The End of Life as We Know It?

I know. I shouldn’t let the speeches going on at the Republican National Convention piss me off … but they do! To hear them talk, they paint themselves as fiscally responsible angels that want less government in our lives. Ummm … yeah. How many years ago did that in fact stop being a reality? Meanwhile, we Democrats are all gun hating, homo loving, baby killers.

Oh, wait … I do loves me some homos.

This cartoon reflects a lot of what I’ve heard people interviewed on NPR this past week saying. This attitude is just plain scary.

There was a bear on Main Street Monday night!!! Last week when I was heading to the theater I saw two deer crossing Pigeon Street. We have been having our share of mountain development here. It will interesting to see if there are a lot more animals interacting with humans as their mountain habitats (the animals that is) become more and more populated.

This stunning song and video by the McCain Girls (sung to the tune of the Eurythmics “Here Comes The Rain Again”) has convinced me who I need to vote for. John McCain for President!!!

Local legend “Popcorn” Sutton has been arrested again. Damn shame as the man makes some fine, fine moonshine.
