Post-Christmas

Christmas Exhaustion
And … Christmas is over. Thank God. I got some super cool presents from the boyfriend (lots of books, some movies, and a cool coat!) and ate waaaaaay too much food due to three different gatherings. I am not weighing myself until July.

I must confess that Christmas is still one of my least favorite times of the year. There has been a big hole in the holidays since 1991. Seems like 26 years would be enough time to fill that hole or, at the very least, have made some peace with it. I suspect that if I haven’t gotten over it by now, I am never going to.

It’s one week until 2018 (just to state the obvious).

Duran Duran Into the Arena Board Game

Remember when I mentioned winning an eBay auction while stuck in traffic on the way to Charleston, SC? Well, here it is … Duran Duran’s Into the Area Board Game (released in 1985 by Milton Bradley). As you can tell by the graphics, this was released to coincide with the Arena live album and the Arena (An Absurd Notion) concert video. One of the super cool things about the game is that it’s graphics were designed by Assorted iMaGes (who had been doing all the designs for Duran Duran releases at that point).

I didn’t even realize there was a Duran Duran board game until I ran across a mention of it about a year ago. Since then I have been trying to find a reasonably priced copy. And, thanks to eBay, I scored a copy for just a little over $40 shipped. YES! Now I just need to find some friends to play it with.

Duran Duran Video Album
I also won an auction for a VHS of the Duran Duran video album. It contains the first 11 Duran Duran videos and was released in 1983 on Beta video, CED videodisc, LaserDisc, VHD disc, and VHS. I rented this A LOT from one of the local video stores (of which I can’t remember the name) back in the day. It’s a bit of a bummer that this hasn’t made its way on to DVD. The Greatest DVD release from 2004 has all these videos but it’s not quite the same as all the videos are viewed one at a time with breaks between them. The Duran Duran release has the 11 videos cleverly edited together for a continuous viewing experience.

And with that, my week of Duran Duran concludes!

Hiking Photos!

Strange to think it’s already been nearly three weeks since Preston, Michael (with Seppo) and I went on a wee hike that turned into an all day hike. The Blue Ridge Parkway was closed so we hiked out from the junction with Hwy. 215. We didn’t plan on going too terribly far … but we did. Past the Devil’s Courthouse, out to the junction with the road to the Black Balsam Wilderness, then on to Sam’s Knob, down to Flat Laurel Creek and back out to the Parkway and on back to the car. We started out about 10:30 in the morning and got back to the car at 7:00 just as it was getting dark. It was pretty awesome to see dusk descend while walking down the middle of the Parkway. Seppo gets big points for hanging with all all day. Jump inside for some more pictures. Continue reading “Hiking Photos!”

In A Mood

Yeah.

Still in a mood here. I thought I was working past it but that’s a misconception.

Honestly …

What’s the point?

Feeling kinda useless and uninteresting here.

Monday Night Update:
And … I am now over it.
