So, my dad got taken to the hospital last Tuesday with what we thought were issues with his atrial fibrillation and COPD (and possible issues with anxiety/depression). What we weren’t expecting was a cancer diagnosis. We found out officially yesterday that it’s Stage 4 Lung Cancer that has metastasized to his bones (with lesions in his spine, shoulder blades, pelvis, and skull). The treatment options are very narrow (if he rallies enough to even be able to take the treatment) and it looks like it will only delay the inevitable. Needless to say, it’s been a hellish week and thoughts about what the coming days and weeks hold for the family make me want to throw up. This is going to be hard.
