Duran Duran Video Album
Duran Duran Video Album
Back in the good ole days of 1983, Duran Duran (at the true height of their fame) released a “video album.” The band was one of the first to really use the music video to its fullest potential and probably the first to do videos for songs that would never see a “single” release. I love this video set. Each track is edited to blend seamlessly with the next for one hour of Duran Duran video heaven. Most of the videos included here are on the dvd release “Greatest” but four (“Careless Memories,” “My Own Way,” “Lonely In Your Nightmare” and “(Waiting for the) Nighboat”) were not included for some reason. Maybe because they were never released as singles. The video has been long OOP and really is a “must have” for Duran Duran fans.

Video Track Listing:

  2. “Planet Earth” (St. John’s Wood) (3:49)
  3. “Lonely in your Nightmare” [US Album Remix] (London/Sri Lanka) (4:49)
  4. “Careless Memories” (Soho) (3:40)
  5. “My Own Way” [Day Version] (St. Johns Wood) (3:33)
  6. “Hungry Like the Wolf” (Sri Lanka) (3:37)
  7. “(Waiting for the) Nighboat” (Antigua) (5:11)
  8. “Girls on Film (Night Version)” (Shepperton Studios) (6:11)
  9. “Save a Prayer” (Sri Lanka) (6:03)
  10. “The Chauffeur” (London) (4:57)

  1. They’ve had a couple of different video albums…Decade, Greatest, and this one, apparently.
I recently saw one that was a documentary of one of their tours. Seven and the Ragged Tiger, I think. May have been titled “Sing Blue Silver” (?)

  2. Yup. “Sing Blue Silver” is the documentary for the Seven and the Ragged Tiger tour. I likes it. Finally got to see the “Arena” film they did and really didn’t like it at all.

  3. Finally got to see the “Arena” film they did and really didn’t like it at all.

I forgot I had seen the “Arena” one! Turns out that being married to an ex-Duranie has its advantages.

Wasn’t that more theatrical, with the old Barbarella Duran Duran character backstage and stuff?

Geez…if she hears of this, I’ll start seeing mysterious ebay packages arriving in about a week.

  4. Yeah … AREANA was that really overdone “concert” film that has that funky backstory.

    Heh!

  5. My lovely wife, upon hearing of this, took exception to the term “ex-Duranie.”
She claims she’s a current Duranie.

    Whatever.
