Synapse has announced a new 4K UHD edition of one of my favoritest slasher films, Prom Night. There will be a limited edition slipcover version released first. The price tag? $50! And what do you get for that hefty $50 price tag? The new 4K scan of the film and the slipcover. That’s it. No booklet. No swag. No new special features. They are just porting the ones from the previous Blu-ray release. Just the slipcover. Movie collecting has been quickly spiraling into a more and more expensive hobby as these boutique labels have figured out that they can charge higher prices and collectors will pay them. And guess which sucker will probably shell out $50 for this release. Dammit.
