That was my reaction on hearing that “Avatar” had snagged the Best Motion Picture (Drama) award at the Golden Globes. I mean … what the fuck?!!? “Avatar” may be groundbreaking in eye-popping visuals category, but there were much better movies (on the whole) out there this past year. I hope this isn’t any indication about how the Oscars will swing.
Titanic was the same- spectacular special effects and sets, but the story kinda sucked. And it won Best picture.
With 10 pictures to divide the vote, I think Avatar will win. I don’t think it was the best picture of the year, but how often does the actual best picture win “best picture?”
