PT, Michael and I headed into the woods for a hike this past Saturday. We went back to the cascade (and rock cliff) on Sam Branch. PT and I have done this trail a few times but Michael was a newbie to it have just moved back to the glorious mountains. I always forget just how dang steep this trail is. There are some more pictures and things that you can see inside.

PT and Michael (wine in hand).

Mountain View.

PT looks over the edge while I am just hanging out and enjoying the wine and the sun. And yeah, that drop off really is as bad as it looks.

PT, Michael and Myself.

Another gratuitous picture of ourselves.

Ready to head back to the car.

Sam Branch is quite beautiful with lots of cascades and small waterfalls.

Somehow PT dropped his special cork screw in the water. Fortunately the rushing water didn’t carry it away. After some moving of rocks and climbing down a hole, he was able to retrieve it.
When you are on top of the rock, you can look up the mountain and see that there is a huge waterfall that starts Sam Branch’s run down the mountain. After lunch we tried to follow what looked like a trail further up the rocks to see if it would lead towards that waterfall. After just a few minutes (and many run-ins with briers and brambles), it was clear that this is not the way to the top. I imagine that we will have to follow Sam Branch all the way to the top.
PT, Michael and I all vowed that the next time we come here that we are gonna make it all the way up to that waterfall.

Great pix!! It’s good to see Michael back in the mountains – but I miss his beard!!
He was pretty hot with the beard … wasn’t he?
This right here is why I came “home.” (The views — AND the friends, too, of course.) Great pix, Chas.
It’s great to have you all back!!!
