As regular readers of this site know, I have a major love of horror movies. Major. Last weekend I got into a conversation with my friend Michael’s girlfriend, Nicole, and discovered she likes horror movies too. I was mortified to find out that she claims to like them, but has never seen the benchmarks of the genre (Night of the Living Dead, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Halloween … I do realize that I am naming mostly post 1970 films). Apparently she considers the crap that is being made today scary. So, tomorrow night, I am having Michael, Nicole and Michelle over for some much, much needed horror movie eduction. Michelle is particularly prone to being terrorized by such films, so I am looking forward to seeing how much sleep I can make her lose. The first film of the evening will be The Blair Witch Project … a very controversial film because some find it to be totally terrifying while others find it good to make them fall asleep. I think it’s one of (if not) the best horror films made in the last ten years. Yeah, you can stop laughing now.
