Ugh!!! [This Week Edition]

This week has lasted forever. Is Friday ever going to get here?!

Yesterday, work on all fronts was a hot mess. Rush tasks on one end. Cleaning up someone’s utter idiocy on the other. That kind of crap makes me want to punch people!

Plus, I found out yesterday that there is potentially bad health news looming on the horizon for a family member. We’ll know more after tests next week. I have my fingers crossed for good news.

Got out and mowed this afternoon before any of the customary late afternoon summer rain/thunderstorms blow through. Thank God I spotted the yellow jackets nest as soon as I ran over it with the mower. I was able to run away in terror and avoid getting stung. There were a crap-load of bees that came out of the ground. I hate those fuckers.

At least my fun skeleton undies are supposed to arrive tomorrow.

Hurricane Florence is posed to dump a bunch of rain on us Sunday/Monday. Will there 6″ or 12″+ of the wet stuff? Every time the forecasters talk, the predictions change. There’s talk of flooding and power outages. I guess I’ll just have to wait and see if the creek gets out of its banks. I have plenty of whiskey, rye, moonshine, and rum to get me through. Maybe I should stock up pizza as well?

And … A Brief Political Rant:
Donald J. Trump is a piece of work. From his behavior (and tweets) on the 9/11 anniversary to today’s denials of the death toll numbers in Puerto Rico. He truly is a narcissistic piece of shit. And I really think this country is dumb enough to re-elect him.

Here is my favorite meme from This Week in Trump Land.

Excitement [Underwear Edition]

I am obsessed with (and have no self-control around) … PIZZA! So, it was pretty cool to find pizza print boxer briefs when I was window shopping in the Gap Factory this past weekend. Needless to say, I bought these post haste.

When I got home, I went online to see what other cool print boxer briefs they might have on sale as the rest of the selection in the store was not the greatest. I found these totally fun ones with a “bones” print. Needless to say, I have ordered them post haste.

I might have a *slight* underwear fetish.

Completionist [Duran Duran Edition]

Duran Duran EMI Special Editions
Thanks to the magic of the internet (hooray for Amazon Third Party Sellers and eBay), I now have a complete set of the deluxe editions EMI released of Duran Duran’s first five albums. I had originally picked up their self-titled debut and Seven and the Ragged Tiger but missed out on getting the ones for Rio, Notorious, and Big Thing while they were still readily available. Now I have them all. Yay!

My OCD goes a little wild when looking at these stacked together. I am not sure why they did a book style package for Rio and clam shell boxes for all the rest. Consistency, people!

Paid Day Off [Labor Day Edition]

So what do you do when you have a paid day off? Why … go back to Gatlingburg, of course!

We hit up Sugarlands, Doc Collier, and Ole Smoky for some moonshine tasting.
Moonshine Tastings

I particularly love the people on the other side of the counter from us at Ole Smoky. That kid looks like he sure wants a sip of that sweet, sweet ‘shine.

I sure do like the Purple Rain that Sugarlands makes at their cocktail bar.Moonshine Crafted Cocktails at Sugarlands

We finally did the Rugged Ropes Adventure Course at Gatlin’s. It was a ton of fun.

And what trip to Gatlinburg is complete without getting the crap scared out of you at the Mysterious Mansion? We love this place!

Paid Day Off [Labor Day Edition]

Blech!

I usually don’t get sick … and here I am sick again. I had a sinus infection over Memorial Day weekend and now it seems like more sinus stuff is going on. I started feeling the effects last weekend and by Monday I had lost my voice. That got better by Wednesday. But now, the bug seems to have settled in my chest and stopped up my ears. Last night I have a mother of an ear ache (which thankfully is gone now). Why am I getting sick around holiday weekends?! It’s annoying.

And yes … I know that “I don’t feel well” posts are super exciting. 😛

Blech!

Bacon and Beer

This past weekend, the Hunt clan came up from Florida and we hit up Baconfest over in Asheville at Highland Brewing. We had not been to this event since 2015. There was lots of good bacon and pork inspired treats and, of course, tasty Highland brews. I *might* have had a little too much to drink. A & I loved the camo Huddle House koozies that came in our swag bags. We also snagged Krispy Creme hats at the dessert area. Who doesn’t want to be stylin’ with Krispy Kreme (and bacon and beer)? Such a fun day with awesome people!!!

Update [One Week Later Edition]

Uninspired. That would be the best word to describe how things are going right now. I feel very uninspired in just about every aspect of my life.

Uninspired in my job.
Uninspired creatively (as I currently have no creative outlet right now).
Uninspired in my personal life.

I even feel uninspired to do anything about being uninspired.

Is this what middle age is like? Is it a long stretch of tediousness until death? If I were wealthy, I suppose I could buy myself out of this current state of ennui.

Meanwhile …

I bought a new toy from Fort Troff. I love it when “toys” are on sale.

“How are they?” … you might ask? Painful. But pleasantly so.

Friday, I went over the Asheville and grabbed the new Siouxsie and the Banshees vinyl re-issues. They sound pretty good and mostly reproduce the art and labels from the original Polydor releases.

Saturday, A&A and the boyfriend and I went over to Franklin to kick around. We had a nice lunch and strolled Main Street. Sadly, we were a bit rushed as one of the A’s had to be back for a retirement party.

Sunday, the boyfriend and I made an impromptu trip to Gatlinburg wherein lots of moonshine was drunk and purchased. Those tastings will get you every time.
Tasting at Sugarlands

We still like Doc Collier the best (that’s all the tall bottles in the back)!
Too Much Moonshine

Maybe that is the answer to ennui? Become an alcoholic and lay drunk all the time.

Anyhoo … the work week is underway. Such excitement.
