Hannibal-ism

Hannibal

So, yeah. Hannibal is my favoritest show of all time (unless something in the future knocks it off its perch). Its mix of psychological drama, horror and art house styling is so totally up my alley.

Back when the show was airing, one of those online “on sale for 24 hours only” t-shirt places sold two Hannibal-inspired cereal themed shirts … Cannibal Crunch and Murder Grahams. Of course, I found out about them days after they had gone off sale and was unable to get them. Bummer.

Fast forward a couple of years, and it turns out they are available for purchase again. I found out in a totally convoluted manner that randomly involved my sister and an emergency room nurse. Go figure. Needless to say, these bad boys are now mine. Yay.

And seriously, if you have never watched Hannibal, seek it out … NOW!

Updates!

I am still struggling a bit to get back into some sort of posting routine. October has been insanely busy (with work and social obligations) and I am looking forward to November wherein I have nothing exciting planned (except maybe a weekend in Charleston or Atlanta).

Some random things that have happened:
– Went to Michigan for a wedding (but you know that).
– Discovered OrbitDVD. It’s awesome.
– Attended two Halloween parties and hosted one.
– Only got blackout drunk once.
– Got a hot new jock and boxer brief.

Meanwhile … my sister and I unexpectedly found out last weekend that we are tied in to dad’s estate. He didn’t leave a will and we assumed our stepmother would inherit everything. It turns out that’s apparently not the case. So, my “No worries! We are off the hook.” attitude has become “Ugh. We are on the hook and now there’s stuff to worry about!” I guess we will find out in the coming weeks what it all means.

Dr. Phibes and Co. are in town this week for a slightly altered version of MonsterFest. He’s rented this super swank house overlooking one of the local country clubs. 6,000+ square feet and valued at a million and a half. It’s really excessive and makes me wish I were rich. We probably won’t get that many movies watched this year, but it’s always the company that’s the most important thing.

We Went to Michigan [U.P. Edition]

So, we went to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan (Marquette, to be exact) for a wedding over the weekend. We flew up on Friday, had the wedding on Saturday afternoon/evening, and flew back on Sunday. The U.P. is quite pretty and I wish we had had more time to sight see and explore the area. One thing that still rings true is that I am a really terrible traveler. It really gets my nerves going, which I am sure makes me a lovely travel companion … right, David?

Here are some random photos I took.

Dad

My dad died this past Wednesday (9-18-19) at the age of 76 from lung cancer that had metastasized to his bones. It was a rough month for him and the family once we got the diagnosis. We bounced back and forth between the hospital and nursing home only to ultimately end up with him at home (where he wanted to be) for hospice care. From the time we found out what was really going on until he died, we only had three weeks left with him.

Honestly, what can I post here about how awesome my dad was? I know what those things are that made him so special but I don’t think I can put them down into words right now … maybe not ever.

I am trying my best to act like things are normal even though it feels like there is a hole in the universe now.
