Fundamentally Excited

Pet. Shop. Boys!
Unless you’re under some rock hiding from the wonders of the 80’s music scene, you should know that the Pet Shop Boys are due to hit with their new album “Fundamental” in late May. Some say it’s a return to form. Personally, I think they’ve never lost their touch. Kick it with the new single …

Aimee Mann: A Mini-Review

Ticket to Heaven
Yup. Braved the snow and messiness last night and saw Aimee Mann at The Peel. She was all “acoustic” this time around … performing with just acoustic guitar, bass and piano/keyboards. The show was a nice mix of songs from all her albums. The funniest part of the show was when she introduced “Save Me” (her song from “Magnolia” that was Oscar nominated) saying that she “can’t help but think of this song as the one that lost the Oscar to Phil Collins’ cartoon monkey love song.”
Again, she put on an excellent show.

And Now …

When you’re bummed out you gotta go with what you know … and I know 80’s!

You’re the object of my smile
I’m a life machine
Sentimental sound on sound
Time to switch the scene

You’re the passion in me
You’ve broken down the system
You’re the vision I see
A pleasure victim

And Now …

A Heads Up!

Whoo! For those of you who have been itching for the Siouxsie “Dreamshow” dvd here in the states … some good news has been announced on thecreatures.com.

Demon have finalised an international deal for Dreamshow. The release date is 16th Jan 2006, with the USA and Japan to follow very shortly afterwards. More news as we get it.

The international partner to Demon for this release will be Warnervision. Thanks.

Happy news indeed. I got to see Siouxise in Atlanta when she toured last year and can vouch for the über coolness of the show.

First Impressions

My major complaint after a first listen to Madonna’s “Confessions on a Dance Floor” is that the album ends with the down beat “Like It or Not” and not some groovy up-tempo number. The last album she did that had an up-tempo song as the last track was 1990’s “I’m Breathless.”
