Here’s Emile Hirsch running shirtless in Lone Survivor. His shirtless scenes at the beginning were the best part of this pretty by-the-numbers war movie.
On a Related Note: I wish my middle name was Davenport. That would be cool.

I never realized that Vincent D’Onofrio played Dawson/Thor until we re-watched Adventures in Babysitting last night. I had quite the crush on Dawson back in the day.

We saw Thor: Ragnarok this past weekend. On the whole it was pretty good with a fun story and some cool visuals. Some of the forced humor was pretty lame … I mean REALLY lame. I am not sure why some screen writers think that forced jokes are going to be funny. Oh well. Cate Blanchette made a really sweet villain. It was especially refreshing since her villain in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was so lame (I blame the writing on that one). Throw in a great supporting cast (Hiddleston, Elba, Urban, Ruffalo, Goldbum, Thompson) and you have probably the best Thor stand alone outing.
Plus … I really approve of Thor’s new (and fresh) hairdo. It’s so much better than those tired, long, golden locks.
And … the completely gratuitous “Thor looks for his shirt” scene was quite nice. I feel a little sad that Franke wasn’t around to see it. She was always partial to seeing some Shirtless Chris Hemsworth on the big screen.

Obsession (Not by Calvin Klein):
I am in full on obsession mode about an iPhone 8. The simple solution is to quit obsessing and go get one. That is where my brain kicks in with worrying about the extra cost per month, etc. You would think these decisions would be easier the older you get. But for me, it seems like these decisions just keep getting harder and harder.
Speaking of Getting Older:
It’s two weeks until my birthday wherein this Old Fart becomes even older and fart-ier. The fun this year is that I will get the rare Friday the 13th birthday. I am slowly pushing towards 50 which is a weird fact to me. Back in my 20’s, I never thought I would make it past 40. Go figure.
Meanwhile:
It seems like I have most of my extra design work is caught up. Yay! I have been working pretty much every day for the last few weeks on freelance stuff. The extra money is nice, but sometimes working 10-12 hour days (the regular eight plus freelance hours) can be a total drag. Tonight it is time to kick back with a beer and relax!
Weekend Plans:
The big excitement is going to be building some more DVD/Blu-ray shelves tomorrow (the addiction is real, people) with the help of the Retired Pilot. Then there will be pizza and binging some more Luke Cage. I am way behind on Netflix’s Marvel content. Maybe there will be a hike on Sunday if PT and I can get our schedules worked out. Then on Sunday night I will be seeing Crystal Castles over at The Orange Peel. Hopefully it will be a good show.
And for No Reason:
Here’s a picture of Tab Hunter being all hot and Tab Hunter-y. Enjoy!

Jake Gyllenhaal is still one fine looking fella. And Ryan Reynolds ain’t nothing to sneeze at either. 😛
It’s been fun watching the internet meltdown this week over Twin Peaks: The Return. A lot of people seemed to be expecting a nostalgic return to the Pacific Northwest and not the full on David Lynch madhouse mind fuck that is Parts 1-3 (Part 4 settles down somewhat). I was expecting this … it is Lynch after all! I am firmly on board to see where the next 14 parts take us. Kudos to Showtime for being willing to let Lynch (and Mark Frost) do their own freaky thing.
“What’s been happening?” you may ask. It was a pretty lazy weekend!
FRIDAY NIGHT:
Hung out with Shortlegs and gossiped a little and talked about more adult things (jobs, homeownership, home buying). I think I miss my 20’s when it was not so “adult” and was more about where and when I was going to get drunk again.
SATURDAY:
PT and I walked around the lake instead of hiking as the weather was pretty gross. I dropped into Best Buy and picked up the Bob’s Burger’s Music Album on CD. I would love to have the deluxe vinyl edition but I can’t really justify spending that much money. Then I napped all afternoon and ordered cheap and sleazy Pizza Hunt for dinner. Viva la Cheap and Sleazy!
SUNDAY:
Did a little bit of work during the day and also binge-watched the first season of Sense8. The show is pretty good and has a cast that is waaaaay too hot. Pictured below is that handsome German actor, Max Riemelt (shirtless, of course). He is in the show. Hubba!
And now another work week is underway …
Meanwhile … in honor of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 opening this weekend, here are some pictures of Chris Pratt (shirtless, of course).

So, since I grossed everyone out with a picture of my nasty cavity ridden tooth … here’s some painted up Colby Keller to ease the pain. (This one’s for Dave.)

One thing I learned last night while watching “The Man from Nowhere” is that Thanayong Wongtrakul is totally hot!

Recently, I watched a couple of Douglas Sirk‘s movies that starred Rock Hudson. Man-oh-man was he handsome! I am particularly fond of “All That Heaven Allows,” a great melodrama about a romance between two people from different social classes.
And now for some more eye candy … Rock Hudson with a beard!
