Now On Video (Deja Vu)

Mr. Reynolds
Mr. Reynolds
Since it’s now out on video, I would like to remind you all that the true stars of the “has-its-moments” remake of “The Amityville Horror” are Ryan Reynolds’ abs and chest. The creepy house get some points too but not nearly as many as Ryan Reynolds’ abs and chest. Have I mentioned just how delicious Ryan Reynolds’ abs and chest are in this movie? Very delicious.

Gyllenhaal Rant

Jake. Shirtless!!!
Like … OMG!!! I am like so crushin’ right now ’cause the new Jake G. movie comes out this weekend. Like, how sweet is that?

According to Towelroad: “For those of you Jake fans, there are scenes where the soldiers are partying in which Swofford’s privates are covered only by a Santa hat — extended scenes of Gyllenhaal’s bare backside, and a hot shower scene in which he goes full frontal. Granted, the scene is very shadowy, but you can definitely see that Mr. G is not lacking in that department.”

Like … OMG!!! I am so gonna have to not wet myself or pass out when that scene hits the screen. ‘Cause like Jake G. is really just so hot and I so deserve to see him naked in a film. I like so deserve it! I know the movie is gonna be sweet ’cause the awesome Sam Mendes directed it … but … like OMG … did I mention that I am gonna be so crushin’ all ’cause Jake G. is gonna be NAKED and BUFF? Like OMG!!!~

Get HELLBENT!

Hellbent
Hellbent” gets the start of its limited release this coming weekend. For those of you with your head in the sand, “Hellbent” is being touted as the “first ever gay slasher film.” But, it appears that all the early reviews of the film are downplaying the gay aspect and calling it one of the better slasher films that’s been made recently. Coolness!!!

Downbeat Friday: Sad Songs

Dancer in the Dark
I got a chance to revist Lars Von Trier‘s “Dancer in the Dark” last night. I had totally forgotten what a bleak, depressing piece of cinema it is. I had forgotten just how brilliant Bjork is in the movie (as well as the rest of the cast). I had forgotten just how damn ballsy the movie is … a fractured take on the traditional Hollywood musical. “I’ve Seen It All” breaks my heart ever time I hear it. I recommend you checking it out if you enjoy movies as much as I do.

“Our Town” for Our Times

Dogville
Since I couldn’t cast my show last night, I watched “Dogville” instead. And I really, really liked it. So many things worked for me … the “staging” of the movie to be more like a theater piece than a conventional movie … the excellent cast of actors and actresses … the very downbeat tone of the story. “Dogville” is also further proof that Nicole Kidman is more than just a pretty face and is one of the better actresses working in Hollywood (yeah, fuck you Julia Roberts, you hack). Now, I just need a region free player so I can get the Danish 2-Disc DVD release which contains a load of extras including a “making of” documentary. The Amercian release is sadly lacking in the “extras” area.
