More Records!

After spending way too much money on them, I am super excited to have added the following original pressings to my collection:
Cocteau TwinsTreasure
– Cocteau Twins’ Victorialand
This Mortal Coil‘s Filigree & Shadow

I am especially knocked out about getting Treasure. It’s been on my want list for a long time and I just happened to get hold of it through sheer luck. Thanks to that mystery customer who had it on hold and then (for some reason) decided not to buy it and thus allowed me to. Woot!

Frustrated

So, the weekend was okay.

The Full Monty at ACT was pretty good. I still wish I had been cast in it. Boo hoo.
– I was so lazy on Saturday that I didn’t even get dressed or leave the house.
– Shortlegs and I went to the Noble Cider tap room on Sunday and I got drunk. Yay!

Meanwhile, I am feeling frustrated.

I am frustrated because it feels like all I ever do is sit around the house or sit around the house doing freelance work. I would like to take more trips to fun places (i.e. out of my home area). It feels like the boyfriend (who is currently off in Europe after coming back from Canada) gets to go on lots of trips while all I do is sit at home with the dog. Ugh.

I am also frustrated because I have a BIG freelance project hanging over my head. I was supposed to have the copy last month (May) and here we are six days into this month and I still have not seen anything from the client. I met with them on Monday and was told they wanted the printed pieces by the first of July and that all the copy was going to be sent to me. Well, here I am two days later and still no copy. I have a feeling that the rest of June is going to be screwed because of this. Double ugh.

Week-ity Weekend!

I am finally felling human again after 10 days of a cold/sinus infection/what-the-fuck-ever. Last Thursday/Friday I was running a consistent fever and ended up at Urgent Care late on Friday to get it looked at. They put me on 875mg of Augmentin twice a day for ten days. Such fun. I ended up on the sofa pretty much for the whole holiday weekend and got uninvited from a cookout (even though the doctor said I wasn’t contagious). Oh well. I really was craving a grilled burger. Instead, I went and got greasy take-out pizza to make myself feel better.

What’s going on this weekend, you might ask?
– Seeing that show I didn’t get cast in tonight. Hopefully it will be great!
– Going to Noble Cider‘s tap room on Sunday with Shortlegs.

I’ll have to see what other kind of meanness I can get into.

Meanwhile:
The new album from Ghost drops today! I received the digital files from my CD pre-order yesterday … and let me tell you, it’s an awesome collection tunes that throw back to 80’s metal and prog rock. Get it!

Grace Jones: Bloodlight and Bami [Quickie Thoughts]

Grace Jones: Bloodlight and Bami
I *finally* got to see the Sophie Fiennes documentary Grace Jones: Bloodlight and Bami this past weekend. I totally dig Grace Jones and was super stoked for this. Ultimately, it was disappointing. The concert footage is electrifying and certain parts detailing Jones’ offstage (and backstage) life are interesting … but there are large sections that meander along with no real focus. This might have been okay if the movie was about a half hour shorter. At nearly two hours it’s just a little too much since the approach seems so haphazard. This was a miss for me. Bummer. Now I need to drag out my old State of Grace VHS to get a real Grace Jones fix.

Eye Candy [Clothing Edition]

I have been in much need of a packable, waterproof/breathable jacket for my hiking adventures. Well, I finally got off my ass and ordered a sexy new Mamot PreCip Jacket in Steel Onyx/Slate Grey. I am really hoping the breathability is pretty good because being wet inside your jacket sucks. Who wants to get out into the woods?

The boyfriend was less than thrilled when I announced that I really needed to order myself a Cutie Chris Shirt by Ego Rodriguez. Love me, love my Chris Evans Obsession. Make mine Heather Grey, please!

The boyfriend was also less than thrilled that I found this shirt to be quite amusing. I could have used this several years ago … because it’s totally me. 😛

Hump Day Blues

I am down in the dumps today. Shocker!

There is a situation that I can’t quit obsessing about and I really do need to stop. The only solution I have come up with is just to walk away totally. But the idea of burning that 25+ year old bridge is quite sad and stressful. I have already become quite homebody-ish over the last year and half and this would pretty much seal the deal on what existing social life I have. If I walk away, I would then be disconnected from one of the things I used to love to do and from a lot of the people I know. Ugh. I hate being an adult and dealing with shit like this. It really sucks how people and their egos ruin things.

Meanwhile [May 10 Edition]

Yeah. I went M.I.A. (that’s “missing in action” and not the rapper.) This past week has been too busy and somewhat depressing at points. Not much to really talk about other than a general feeling that all good things are turning bad (theater, friendships, etc.).

I did spend the day drunk on Sunday. Wine. Champagne. Beer. It was kinda nice … but at points it kinda wasn’t because of friends getting into a fight. What a way to ruin a nice buzz.

I got to go to Tennessee yesterday for work. It was nice to be in the office there and see the people I only ever converse with on the phone or via email. Not so nice was the 5-1/2 hours in the car and driving through Knoxville at rush hour. Ugh. Singing in the car on the way back home, I did discover that I could probably kill a Lip Sync for Your Life if it were Lisa Stansfield‘s Been Around the World.

While treadmill-ing every morning, I have been able to start getting caught up of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. thanks to Netflix and my tablet. I am now about midway through Season Three. In honor of this, here’s a shirtless picture of the show’s current resident hot guy (and villain), Brett Dalton. To get those abs, I am sure he is doing a lot more than just running on a treadmill. 😛

Thanks, NC DOT!

During the day yesterday, the NC DOT came through the neighborhood and butchered just about everyone’s lawns. Supposedly this is in aid of keeping standing water out of the road. There has never been an issue with this in front of my house. But that did not stop them from taking 2′-4′ off the front of my lawn with a big scrapper. I do understand the state has a certain amount of right away, but this is ridiculous. I now have a big, ugly, barren swath of dirt in front of my house. A friend says the DOT will come back through and make this look better. I totally have my doubts about this … and I’m really having to fight the urge to reseed this section with grass RIGHT NOW. Grrrrrr.

Thanks, NC DOT!

Dreariness

April is almost done. Thank Christ. I wouldn’t have expected it to be as utterly depressing as it has been. I got more upset about not getting cast in that show than I thought I would. And, I am having the worst time shaking thoughts that I am secondary (or even an afterthought) and that I can’t seem to do anything right. Ugh.

Plus, it doesn’t help that it’s been gloomy and has rained every single day since Sunday. Hopefully the forecasters are right and will will finally get some sun tomorrow. I am soooooo ready for warmer temps and blue sky.

“What else has been going on?” you might ask.

– Had a nice lunch with the Retired Pilot.
– Dr. Phibes and Co. were in town for a quick visit. The beer and food flowed freely.
– Got a request for “more information” from the NC Dept. of Revenue. Yay, audit!
– Managed to only piss one person off this week.
– Won two eBay auctions. (Take away my PayPal account, please!)
– Did some freelance work.

“What is going on this weekend?” you might ask.

– Might go to the Noble Cider tasting at Blue Ridge Beer hub.
– Mowing the yard.
– Going with Mom and Kat to Bearwaters Brewing to hang out tomorrow night.
– Seeing The Diary of Anne Frank on Sunday (as well as having a nice lunch).
– Hopefully will finished up Season 2 of Jessica Jones.
– And … more freelance work. Shocker!

The boyfriend is gone this weekend, so it will be sometime next week before I will get to see Avengers: Infinity War. (Bites Fingers!)

Hang in there, people. Hopefully the giant asteroid will arrive soon. 😛
