The tickets for “Cabaret” went on sale today to season ticket holders and in 3-1/2 hours nearly 25% of the tickets for the run are already gone. That’s right. They sold around 600 tickets today and tickets for the general public don’t go on sale until Saturday! This looks like it could be a sell out for the run. Steve is already bugging me about seeing if the cast/crew/orchestra will be available for extra performances. Crazy!!!
Theater
Your Table is Waiting …

One Down. Two To Go!
Whew. A busy week is almost done. Here are three images to start off your weekend.

We got on our stage this past week and it seems like the actors have adjusted pretty well to the space … if they can just remember their lines, lyrics, choreography and staging. Heh. We have one more week of “running through” the show and two dress/tech rehearsals before people will come in for the final dress rehearsal. Hard to believe but “Cabaret” opens in a mere two weeks!

And here’s Chris Evans (again) in a still from the movie “Sunshine.” Mmmm, mmmm.

Must … Have … Dalek … Spacebot #13 Qee!!!
Happy Weekend to ya!
Now It’s Better
Last night went a lot better. I wonder if it was because we were running straight through Act I and not all over the place like we were on Tuesday. We have one more week of regular rehearsals before we jump into dress/tech week. How time flies!
“Cabaret” is now listed as an event on Facebook. So, go R.S.V.P. and let me know you’re gonna come see my show!
Now It’s Time
I knew the day would come when I would start getting totally frustrated with rehearsals. Things with “Cabaret” have been going along pretty smoothly until last night. Seems like we spent a lot of time last night working one musical number (that should be up and running) when there are others that definitely need lots of work. Add to that the fact that nobody in the cast (15 people) seemed to be able to remember any of the staging that we work out last week for the “Finale Ultimo.” Grrrrrr. So, 30 minutes was spent (again) going over that part of the show. It was frustrating. I’ll have to see how tonight goes. Hopefully I won’t have to break out “mean face.”
Coming soon … the “Cabaret” Poster.
“Cabaret” Rehearsals Continue

Last night we sweated our asses off in the Shelton House barn working choreography for the show. Inside are some pictures of the cast learning and refining “If You Could See Her” and “Mein Herr.” Continue reading ““Cabaret” Rehearsals Continue”
Hump Day Update
Whoo. The week is half done and there’s a three day weekend on the horizon.
Rawk!
I do have some major projects I need to work on this weekend though. The dvd sets of “Rome” and general laziness have kept me from getting stuff done.

I have been really diggin’ on “Rome.” But I will agree with Scott that the second season doesn’t quite live up to the first … though it’s still entertaining will all the blood, guts, sex and treachery.

Coming out next week will be a new collection of short stories from Irvine Welsh entitled “If You Liked School, You’ll Love Work.” How hot is it that two Irvine Welsh books have hit the states this year? Very hot.
“Cabaret” is currently homeless. “Jake’s Women” opens this coming weekend and we are now out of the building. Last night and tonight we are at MusicWorks!. Tomorrow we get to go sweat ourselves silly in The Barn. Everyone is getting really excited as our date to take over the main auditorium looms closer and closer. Here are some photos from a music rehearsal last week (no captions ’cause I am lazy) …

ART-y Photos

Now (after seven months) you can see pictures from “Art” … the show that Steve, Jeff and I did this past winter in the Studio.
Nearly Two Weeks Later

It. Is. Finished … Finally! Casting, that is.
One Week Later

It’s one week after auditions and some of the parts in the show have still not been cast. Grrrrrr.
Auditions!

Yeah. I hadn’t really mentioned this yet … but tonight and tomorrow night starting at 6:30 p.m. are auditions for the fall musical here in town. I will be in charge of (you guessed it) “Cabaret,” that light and fluffy pre-war Berlin/Rise of the Nazis musical. Chuck and Beth are on board to do music and choreography (respectively). People have been bugging me for weeks about what parts they want, etc. It will be interesting to see which of them actually shows up. I imagine we are going to have a zillion Emcee and Sally Bowles wanna-be’s there. I am gonna try and do a much better job this year of “documenting” how rehearsals, etc. are going. I have been way lazy about that the past two years.
“Sweeney Todd” Burton Style

I have no problems telling you just how terrified I am of the Tim Burton movie version of my favorite musical “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.” Ugh. Just look at that poster art. Ewwwww. And … Johnny Depp? Helena Bonham Carter? Sacha Baron Cohen?!?!? I guess we will find out just how much they have fucked it up this Christmas.

Excited!
I met up last night with Beth who is gonna choreograph “Cabaret” for me this fall. It was a meeting about the basics … what the set is gonna look like, how many songs does she have to worry about, etc. I am really excited because we seem to be on the same page about a lot of thing and I think she is gonna bring some cool ideas to the table. We went ahead and made some executive decisions about certain things and the music director is just gonna have to live with it. I have been trying to nail him down for a month and haven’t been able to schedule a meeting with him … yet.
