The new 33″ wide x 7′ tall dvd rack was finally finished and installed in the house yesterday. It only took three weeks to complete the job. Ultra-picky me had to have the right color of stain … which meant a coat of pre-stain conditioner, a coat of cherry-colored gel stain and then two coats of regular oak-colored stain. It fits perfectly in the space I planned it for and has more than enough space for my ever expanding dvd collection (see yesterday’s post for details). Ah! Working with wood makes me feel all manly. Plus it can be fun and satisfying … I am talking “pine” and not “cock” for those of you with dirty minds.

Memorial Update
Memorial Day Weeend, a weekend to get out and have fun … right? Mine was kinda quiet. Spent Friday night hanging out with He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. I cooked. We ate. We drank and watched some movies. We dipped into the hot tub. Yeesh. Spent Saturday sanding the wood for a new dvd rack I am building. Some folks came over and hung out. Yep. He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named came back over which surprised (and delighted) me. What a dumbass I am. Sunday was spent putting the first coat of stain on the aforementioned wood and cleaning the house. Whoo. Monday brought about a second coating of stain and an attempt to put in new lighting in the kitchen. As with all home improvement projects, I have discovered that I need to repaint the ceiling because there is now a huge yellowed square where the old fixture used to be. Geez. It never ends does it?
