I Heart Jackass

Bam Gets a Cock Branded on His Ass
OMG! I watched “Jackass Number Two” last night. What a movie! I laughed. I cried. I thought I was gonna be sick.

What still surprises me about the Jackass crew is just how comfortable this bunch of straight guys are being homoerotic with each other. It’s probably the most mainstream gay porn movie you will see. You’re set to see just about everything you can think of … from Bam Margera getting the outline of a penis branded on his ass (see above) to Steve O doing “The Butt Chug.” Plus, the movie also has appearances by John Waters and Rip Taylor (two gay icons).

Now … take a look at the logo for Dickhouse Productions (Jackass’ production company). It’s pretty gay.

It doesn’t hurt either that all the Jackass fellas are pretty damn hot.

And for the record:
I still think Ryan Dunn is the hottest of them all …

Creepshow 2-Disc Special Edition R2
Wow. What’s up with all the cool special editions that get put out in England/Europe and not here in the States?!?!

Just released over the pond is a 2-Disc Special Edition of the George Romero/Stephen King horror anthology “Creepshow.” I love this movie and it’s been in desperate need of some “special” treatment here in the States.

Here’s what those lucky Brits get:

Disc 1: Main Feature
* 1.85:1 Anamorphic Widescreen
* English DD2.0 Stereo and DD5.1 Surround
* English subtitles
* Commentary by George A. Romero and Tom Savini moderated by Michael Felcher

Disc 2: Extra Features
* Just Desserts: The Making of “Creepshow” – 90-minute documentary
* 5 Deleted Scenes
* Tom Savini’s Behind-the-Scenes Footage
* Theatrical Trailer
* Stills Gallery

Damn. That sounds sweet. I have been poking around on the net and there not a peep about a possible Region 1 release. I just might have to hit amazon.co.uk … again.

The Burning: Some Thoughts

The Burning
OMG! I watched “The Burning” this past weekend and … my God did it kick some ass!!! “The Burning” came out in 1981 (the same year as “Friday the 13th”) and boast quite a few names with it and it was the first “Miramax” film.

“The Burning” has a very similar story line to the aforementioned “Friday the 13th.” A mad killer stalks the woods at Camp Blackfoot for revenge. You can look for Jason Alexander, Holly Hunter and Fisher Stevens all in early film roles as campers in peril. And that’s one of the many things that I loved about “The Burning” is that it’s the young campers that are the main focus of the killings. All the deaths in “Friday the 13” are directed at the camp counselors and happen before the ‘lil campers even arrive.

But what really makes “The Burning” kick so hard are Tom Savini’s masterful makeup effects. I was totally floored by the masterful “massacre” scene right in the middle of the movie. All the deaths are extremely brutal for a film that played in 1981. Maybe Savini was trying to one-up his own work on “Friday the 13th.” Well … he one-ups it in spades.

So, if you like campers in the woods slasher films as much as I do, then you definitely need to check out “The Burning.”

Shit List

Stanley Kubrick
Amazon.com is totally on my shit list right now. I pre-ordered the “Warner Home Video Directors Series: Stanley Kubrick” months ago. Well, it was released yesterday and immediately they have listed it as “Usually ships within 5 to 6 weeks.” Grrrrrrrr. Isn’t the point of pre-ordering so you have you name on the list and can get an item right when it comes out?!?!?!? Patience has never been one of my virtues.

Several Days Later

Rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated. It’s been a busy week and I haven’t had much to say.

I did get two sweet birthday gifts over the weekend thanks to Scott and Franke …
Scott’s 2-Part Gift (Warning: It’s definitely NSFW!)
Franke’s Gift (Mmmmm. Brains!)

I heart Zombies, Brains and Leather Toys!

In other news:
“Cabaret” started it’s final five performances last night … all of which are sold out! It’s been great having the show sell really well but I, for one, am ready to put this one to bed. It’s been a year of thinking and planning, casting, seven weeks of rehearsals, four weekends of performances.

28 Weeks Later” is coming from Netflix and that makes me excited. It’s gotten a lot of good buzz.

Echo Bridge’s new anamorphic widescreen release of “Prom Night” is now mine. That makes me super-duper excited!!!
Prom Night!

And don’t forget that “The Complete Peanuts: 1965-1966” is now in stores for your purchasing pleasure!

Another Addiction

Most Haunted
Anyone who knows me knows that I love (and I mean LOVE) ghost stories. And now thanks to the miracle that is the dvd … I am totally hooked on “Most Haunted.” This British show has its crew running all over the country to investigate haunted places. It’s totally sweet! I like it also because it’s less reality show based and a lot “slicker” than “Ghost Hunters.” Plus, it doesn’t hurt that Series 1-3 had the über cute Craig Harman as the show’s stedicam operator …

Meanwhile … CONSUME!!!

While I am starting to tear what little bit of my hair remains out over “Cabaret,” you can go to your local store and grab these great goodies that came out this week.

BUG
One of my favorites from earlier in the year … William Friedkin’s film version of the Tracy Letts stage play “Bug.” I have never been a huge Ashley Judd fan, but she made me a believer playing the emotionally damaged and physically abused waitress Agnes. Micheal Shannon also is really great as Peter (a lone drifter whom the bugs soon follow).

The Simpsons Testify
Finally!!! After eight years of waiting, the good folks behind “The Simpsons” have released another cd (“Testify“) containing music and musical numbers from the show. Highlights from the 41 track disc are the B-52’s performing “Glove Slap” and a medley of tunes from “The President Wore Pearls” (the super excellent “Evita” parody episode).
