{"id":8460,"date":"2020-04-15T11:47:47","date_gmt":"2020-04-15T15:47:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.theboywonder.net\/?p=8460"},"modified":"2020-04-15T11:49:57","modified_gmt":"2020-04-15T15:49:57","slug":"compare-contrast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theboywonder.net\/?p=8460","title":{"rendered":"Compare\/Contrast"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Back in 1988, Bernard Sumner (of New Order) and Johnny Marr (formerly of The Smiths) formed a group called <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Electronic_(band)#Electronic\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Electronic<\/strong><\/a>. On their <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Electronic_(album)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>self-titled debut album<\/strong><\/a> (released in 1991), they collaborated with Pet Shop Boys on the song &#8220;The Patience of a Saint.&#8221; It&#8217;s a really great album and you should seek it out for a listen. Now, after the album came out, Sumner went back to record <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Republic_(album)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong><em>Republic<\/em><\/strong><\/a> with New Order and Pet Shop Boys went to work on their fifth album, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Very_(Pet_Shop_Boys_album)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong><em>Very<\/em><\/strong><\/a>. End of story?<\/p>\n<p>So, this is of interest to nobody but me but &#8230; those subsequent albums which were released in 1993 (<em>Republic<\/em> in May and <em>Very<\/em> in September) both contain songs titled &#8220;Young Offender.&#8221; Planned? Just coincidence?
