I must say that it makes me all giddy thinking about it … but, you know, that’s just the Mac Nerd in me loving anything that Apple drops into the market place. I really doubt that I would ever purchase this.

Sure, it is a revolutionary phone. Sure, it’s a widescreen iPod (with a whopping 4-8 GB of storage). Sure, you can even go super crazy with the internet and widgets and the like.

But, honestly … I don’t even own a cell phone right now … so why would I go nuts in June and spend $499 on the iPhone on top of the service contact for two years. And you just know that you’ll have to have the uber super $$$ a month plan to actually be able to use all the bells and whistles on that new phone. Apple tends to be a wee exclusive with stuff, but the fact that only Cingular will be carrying the iPhone is also a disappointment. I don’t see this ever changing just knowing the way Apple works.

Personally, I think I would rather just get a regular cell phone with the very basic plan and spend all that extra money on an spankingly new 80GB iPod.

So the super huge announcement yesterday from Apple was the introduction of the iPhone.
