\nWith the “Hearts on Fire” Conference<\/strong><\/a> at the Methodist run Lake Junaluska Assembly fast approaching, the local newpaper is quickly becoming a forum for those who want to spout intolerance and hatred. This shit drives me crazy. God forbid that “Christians” love thy neighbor.<\/p>\n

My not-so-intelligent retort that I sent to the local paper:<\/p>\n

To the Editor:
\nWith the furor over the “Hearts on Fire” conference going on, it would be interesting to know how many of the “Christians” that use Leviticus 20:13 as their justification to decry homosexuality actually follow all the entire Levitical Codes themselves.<\/p>\n

Accordingly those codes, these Christians would:
\n– Never eat shrimp, pork, or any number of other animals deemed unclean (Leviticus 11)
\n– Never steal (Leviticus 19:11)
\n– Never work one day and get paid on another (Leviticus 19:13)
\n– Never plant two kinds of seed in the same field (Leviticus 19:19)
\n– Never wear clothes made with two kinds of cloth (Leviticus 19:19)
\n– Never eat meat cooked rare to medium-well (Leviticus 19:26)
\n– Never shave your sideburns or trim your beard (Leviticus 19:27)
\n– Never get a tattoo (Leviticus 19:28)
\n– Always worship and never work on Saturday (Leviticus 19:30)
\n– Always stand when someone older than you enters a room (Leviticus 19:32)<\/p>\n

Also these Christians would be killing anyone who:
\n– Swears at his father or mother (Leviticus 20:9)
\n– Commits adultery (Leviticus 20:10).
\n– Uses God’s name in vain (Leviticus 24:16)
\n– Kills another person (Leviticus 24:17)
\n– Works, travels far, or prepares a meal on a Saturday (Numbers 15)<\/p>\n

It seems to me that those members of the Christian religion would be better served with the “love thy neighbor” teachings instead of using The Bible as a way to spread intolerance and hatred in the name of God.<\/p>\n
