What’s New: “Piazza” Edition

And … we are underway! I am, yet again, directing HART‘s fall musical. This time it’s “The Light in the Piazza” (by Adam Guettel and Craig Lucas).

We had auditions at the beginning of August and it’s literally taken us four weeks to get to really rolling. Guys are always an issue with doing theater around here. We didn’t have enough guys (or the right age guys) show up. So, the Music Director and I spent about a week and a half just trying to get the principals cast and then another couple of weeks trying to get the ensemble all filled out. It’s been the worst time I have ever had trying to get a show up and running. I hate having to run around and track people down for parts. It stresses me out and makes me anxious. But, we finally did get all the roles filled out with good folks.

Now, it’s dealing with scheduling. Various folks have conflicts and that’s made the last two weeks fun. Plus, our lead guy won’t be in until next week.

We are one month out now from opening … so hopefully I won’t screw it all up. There areĀ  still sets, costumes, lights and sound to worry about. Gah!

Going 3-Dimensional?

When the boyfriend got his fancy 3-D television, I was gave him some shit about the silliness of the whole thing. He had to buy the 3-D television, the 3-D Blu-ray player and the 3-D glasses. That’s a lot of money to shell out. But after viewing some 3-D Blu-rays, I gotta say it’s pretty cool.

And now … I want one.

This fall, two sets are coming that I really want for their 3-D content. For the first time ever, Alfred Hitchcock’s “Dial M for Murder” will be available on home video in its original 3-D presentation. Universal is also releasing “Universal Classic Monsters: The Essential Collection” which will have “The Creature from the Black Lagoon” in its original 3-D presentation.

Now all they need to do is hook us up with “House of Wax” in 3-D!

Must. Resist. Urge. For. 3-D. Television.

Going 3-Dimensional?

OMG … Laziness!

Good Lord. How lazy am I?

Been laying somewhat low for the past week or so. I was feeling pretty weighed down by all the negativity (from both sides) surrounding our Amendment One vote. As predicted, neighbor got pitted against neighbor and there was lots of nastiness and name calling going on. It seems easy to say that North Carolina is just another “Bible Belt” state, but I suspect voters in almost all states would pass this sort of thing. After all, look at California. It really does suck that people can’t live and let live.

Still loving the new Macbook Pro. I hadn’t realized just how horrifically slow the old one had become. Plus, this unibody design is sweet. No more pesky button to have to push to get this thing open. The new high resolution screen (1680 x 1050) is taking some getting used to. All the type is way smaller … and I have got old eyes.

OMG … Laziness!

Part One, Part the Other

I have been a semi-busy bee here. And I have been semi-lazy as well.

The theater season has kicked off, so I am on the go with designs for them.

In the last month and half I have kicked out the following:
Two Newsletters
Two Posters (A third is underway)
Lots of Newspaper Ads
Website Updates
Facebook Updates

Plus, I have started work on Fundraising Materials for a project HART hopes to get off the ground.

And, I have work to do for the Waynesville Public Arts Commission, Green Mountain International and the Fines Creek Blue Grass Jam.

In other big news, I finally got off my ass and ordered myself a new Macbook Pro! This poor machine I am working on is so old and slow now. And the keyboard is slowly starting to fall apart. If you notice any “w’s” missing from this post, it’s because that key is on it’s way out. Hopefully the new Mac will arrive tomorrow!
